Application for fishing permit - authorised signatories

Processing of personal information by the Directorate of Fisheries

When processing applications for fishing permits, the Directorate of Fisheries obtains the following information from these agencies:

National Registry of Iceland/Constitution of Companies

  • Name, ID number and address

Icelandic Transport authority

  • Register of vessels

  • Information on legal registration

  • Seaworthiness of a vessel

The Financial Management Authority 

  • Debt balance due to fishing fees and levies from the Directorate of Fisheries

  • Payment for fishing licences

The Act on personal protection and processing of personal information is always respected when collecting information. The Directorate of Fisheries is concerned about information security and has received certification according to ISO 27001, which is an international information security certification.

The Directorate of Fisheries returns all data to the National Archives of Iceland from its own systems in accordance with the delivery and retention obligation according to Act on Public Archives.
