When access to very sensitive data is granted, increased requirements may be applied during login. A multi-factor IceKey consists of an IceKey and a reinforcement (six-digit number) which is sent by SMS and/or email address to the user.

When an email comes from the email address styrking@island.is, it is a confirmation code for a multi-factor IceKey.
